First report of huanglongbing in Venezuela
In Venezuela, the presence of huanglongbing (associated with ‘Candidatus Liberibacter spp.’ – EPPO A1 List) was first reported in June 2018. Outbreaks were detected in the states of Aragua, Carabobo, and Yaracuy. The identity of the pathogen was confirmed by microscopy and molecular tests (PCR). Official measures are being taken to contain the disease.
The pest status of huanglongbing in Venezuela was officially declared as: Present: subject to official control.
