Regulation on fire blight
Implementation of the Order of May 28, 1959, n° 229 relating to the importation of plants etc., with amendment of June 2, 1972, n° 320 and of December 14, 1973, n° 1033.
In accordance with Section 3 of the Order of May 28, 1959 (n° 229) relating to the importation of plants, etc., the National Institute for Plant Protection hereby announces the following revised direction for the application of Appendix 5 B of the Circular n° 1/1974.
Appendix 5 B Occurrence of Fire blight
In the following countries Fire blight is considered to occur :
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Eastern Germany, France, Great Britain, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Turkey, USA, Western Germany.
Yet, the entrance of host-plants of Fire blight is allowed, without permit, from the following areas :
-Those parts of Poland, Eastern and Western Germany which are situated more than 150 km from the coast.
- All of France, except the coastal area north of Dieppe of 150 km width along the coast.
- Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- In the Netherlands, the province Limburg and the northeastern part of the province Noor'd-Brabant (east of a right line between the province border north of Cuyk and south of Westerbeek, drawn through these places).
The directions of this Circular shall apply as from January l, 1975, when the Institute's Circular n° 3/1974 ceases to apply.
