North American Leaf Miner in Chrysanthemums
North American leaf miner (Liriomya trifoli) has been found in some glasshouses in the United Kingdom. The source of the contamination was cuttings imported direct from a single nursery in Kenya where it was introduced on chrysanthemum cuttings from Florida, USA.
The United Kingdom consider this new pest to be a potential threat to glasshouse crops, including tomato, and therefore are following a policy of eradication based upon treatment with pesticides and, where necessary, the destruction of infected material.
