Health Regulations for the Importation of Vines for Propagation


Having taken into consideration :
The Regulations of par. 1, Art. 1 of the Royal Decree no 756/9-12-71 regarding «the health conditions ruling out the importations of plants and products of such plants in the country» etc.
     We decide
to comlete and formulate par. 2, Part. 1, General Information, of the Annex III Special Requirements and par. 3, Part IV of the same Annex, of the Royal Decree No 756/9-12-71, as follows :
     a. Annex III, Special Requirements, Part I General Information, paragr. 2.
The importation of all rooted plants and underground sprouts; tubers, roots, rhizomes etc. is forbidden, except potatoes and vine plants destined for propagation, if they have been produced in a region where the following pathogens have been recorded : the fungus Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb) Perc., the coleopterous Popillia japonica Newman, the homopterous Viteus vitifolii. Fitch. (phylloxera. of vine) and the nematodes Heterodera rostochiensis Woll. (golden nematode of potatoes), Heterodera schachtii Schmidt and Radopholus similis (Cobb) Thorne.
     b. Annex III, Part IV, par. 3.
The importation of any dry or fresh vine plant as well as poles used in vineyards from all countries infested by the insect Viteus vitifolii Fitch. is forbidden, if they have not been fumigated against the insect of phylloxera by a method adopted by the appropriate State Authority. This fumigation should be declared on the phytosanitary certificate. Vine seeds are excepted.
