Colorado Beetle found in Denmark

Although the Colorado beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) is occasionally found in small numbers in Denmark (blown across the Baltic from DOR and Poland) the pest is not and never has been established in Denmark.

The winter climate is generally too cold to permit the survival of larvae, and only very small numbers of beetles (less than 10) have ever been found surviving the winter. In summer 1981, no Colorado beetles have been found in Denmark.

This information provides the background for interpreting the Danish replies included in Appendix III of EPPO Publications Series C n°64 (repot of the Working Party for Cooperation on Colorado Beetle Contro1, 1979).
