Reports of citrus tristeza virus in Calabria (IT)
According to M. Dayino and A. Catara (Informatore Fitopatologico 36 (1), pp. 9-18 - La tristezza degli agrumi), a number of citrus trees (sweet orange, grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, clementine) have been found, by ELISA in particular, to be infected with citrus tristeza virus in the last 3-4 years in the Catanzaro province of Calabria. Since 1982, 101 trees have been found infested and destroyed. All the material originated from imported budwood. Precautionary measures are strongly recommended throughout Italy in view of the great risk to Italian citrus growing.
