Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. albedinis

In vitro micropropagation is reported as the best method of providing resistant high-quality cultivars of date palm, especially for infested areas in Algeria and Morocco, but potentially also as a precautionary measure for areas still free from Bayoud disease in these countries, and also for Tunisia (where the disease is absent).

In Morocco, it is suggested that certain soils may be suppressive to F.o. albedinis, possibly explaining the apparent absence of Bayoud disease from some areas.
