Thrips palmi on chrysanthemums from Japan
The Netherlands has recently intercepted a consignment of chrysanthemum cut flowers from Japan which were infested with Thrips palmi.
This polyphagous insect is, according to the literature, difficult to control and poses a serious threat to greenhouse crops.
The matter is considered to warrant swift action and will be examined by the EPPO Panel on Phytosanitary Regulations during its meeting in January 1988 with a view to a proposed addition to the EPPO Al List.
