Fireblight incident in Switzerland
Following the discovery in 1988 of a fireblight focus at Ohningen, near the Bodensee, Baden-Wurttemberg (DE) (the first for this region) on quince, Sorbus and Cotoneaster, intensive surveys were carried out in the adjoining area of Switzerland. A Cotoneaster plant infected by Erwinia amylovora (EPPO A2 List) was found in a private garden at Stein-am-Rhein (Solothurn). This and adjacent plants have been destroyed and intensive surveys continue.
