First International Symposium: Frankliniella occidentalis, Valencia. ES. 1990-04-09/10


This first Symposium, organized by the Spanish Journal Phytoma-España, has reviewed biology of the insect, transmission of tomato spotted wilt virus, chemical control and prospects for integrated pest management. European specialists (mainly from Spain, France, Netherlands) attended the meeting. In Spain, Frankliniella occidentalis attacks a large number of protected crops and also field crops in Mediterranean regions, and in particular can cause serious damage on strawberry. It has also been reported in Andalucia on peach, nectarine and cotton.
