Phytophthora infestans mating types in Japan
Mating type A2 of P. infestans was deleted from the EPPO Al List when it was found in several EPPO countries (EPPO Reporting Service n° 494). It is interesting to note that of 69 isolates from potato in Hokkaido (JP), 26 were Al, 42 were A2 and 1 was homothallic. Only Al was found in Southern Hokkaido (A. Ogoshi et al., Hokkaido Univ., Sapporo 060; abstract P. V-1-22).
