Toxoptera citricida vector of citrus psorosis disease
To study the possible transmission of citrus psorosis disease through aphids, experiments were carried out in Argentina.
Aphids of the species Toxoptera citricida (EPPO A1 pest), T. aurantii, Aphis citricola and A. gossypii were collected from infected citrus trees and released on healthy indicator plants.
Toxoptera citricida, T. aurantii and A. citricola transmitted the disease. The average incubation period of the disease was 41 months.
