Antagonist against Thrips palmi
In the Philippines experiments were carried out to study the predatory potential of Orius tantillus (Hemiptera: Anthocoridae) against Thrips palmi (EPPO A1 pest).
Adults of this antagonist consumed up to 20 thrips per day with an average life consumption of 206 and 228 thrips per male and female adult, respectively.
The authors suggest that O. tantillus has a considerable potential as a biocontrol agent against Thrips palmi.
