Pathotype specialization of Phialophora gregata isolates
In experiments in the USA, ten soybean genotypes, including genotypes with high resistence to brown stem rot, were inoculated with single spore isolates of Phialophora gregata (EPPO A1 disease) received from the same field.
According to the authors, the statistical evaluation of the percentage of necrotic leaves and percentage of internal stem discolorations led to the conclusion that pathotype specialization exists within Phialophora gregata and that isolates with a different virulence can be obtained from the same field.
