Dispersion of Ceratocystis fimbriata f.sp. platani spores

Experiments in southern France were carried out to investigate the natural means of dispersion of Ceratocystis fimbriata f.sp. platani (EPPO A2 list).
The experiments showed that the pathogen can be dispersed in flowing waters. Up to 108 m downstreams from the source of inoculum the pathogen infected bait traps consisting of debarked branches of Platanus. However, with increasing distances from the source of inoculum the trapping of the pathogen declined.
