New canker disease of Eucalyptus grandis in South Africa
A new canker disease of Eucalyptus grandis has been reported on the 29th Congress of the South African Society for Plant Pathology in January 1991.
The disease is described as a severe canker which was identified as a species of Coniothyrium. Inoculation of young stems of Eucalyptus grandis with cultures of the fungus resulted in a reproduction of the disease symptoms.
The EPPO secretariat is currently trying to receive more information on this fungal disease from South Africa.
