Effect of Liriomyza trifolii on yield and quality of celery
In Florida, USA, experiments were carried out to determine the yield and quality losses in celery due to Liriomyza trifolii (EPPO A2 pest) infestation.
During the first two month of the 3-month growing season for celery, an infestation by L. trifolii had only slight cosmetic effects. However, feeding of L. trifolii in the third month of the celery growing season resulted in considerable yield and quality losses. The authors therefore recommend to control L. trifolii only in the final month of the celery growing period.
