Induced resistance in pea to Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi

In the UK experiments were carried out to investigate the possibilities to induce resistance in pea to Pseudomonas syringae pv. pisi (EPPO A2 list). Two pea cultivars were inoculated with heat-killed bacteria of P. s. pv. pisi and simultaneously infected with living bacteria of this pathogen.
The simultaneous application induced resistance to the pathogen. The level of resistance was dependent from the amount of heat-killed bacteria which were inoculated.
