Influence of potassium and nitrogen fertilization on Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria

The influences of potassium and nitrogen fertilization on epiphytic populations of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria (EPPO A2 list) on tomato were investigated in the USA.
The epiphytic populations of X. c. pv. vesicatoria as well as the defoliation were decreased when higher rates of nitrogen and potassium were applied. A higher magnesium and the epiphytic populations of the pathogen.
The authors conclude that an altered plant nutrition can influence the severity of X. c. pv. vesicatoria.
