Citrus cancrosis in Mexico

The disease described as citrus cancrosis in Mexico has been attributed to Xanthomonas campestris pv.citri (EPPO A1 list) , D strains.
The Mexican authorities report that the disease is caused by a fungus (Alternaria limicola) and that there is no citrus cancrosis caused by bacteria in Mexico. This is now accepted by the USA which is in the process of revoking that portion of the citus canker quarantine which applies to Mexico.
