Disinfection of water infected with Pseudomonas solanacearum

Suspensions of Pseudomonas solanacearum (EPPO A2 list), Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (EPPO A2 list), Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici were disinfected by ozonation (introducing ozone [O3] into the suspensions).
A ozonation period of 60 minutes was sufficient for P. solanacearum and C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis.
This technique could be a valuable control method for root-infecting pathogens in the hydroponic culture of vegetables.
