First record of Erwinia amylovora in Italy
Erwinia amylovora (EPPO A2 list) has been found in the province of Puglia, Italy. The organism was present in two isolated areas totalling 500 km2. About 15.000 pear trees are affected, mainly of cvs. Bella di Giugno, Guyot, Williams and Conference.
A compulsory eradication campaign is now being enforced.
