Ceratitis capitata eradicated from Bermuda
Ceratitis capitata (EPPO A2 list), the Mediterranean fruit fly, has been eradicated from Bermuda. The eradication was achieved through implementation of the sterile male technique.

EPPO region: Algeria, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yugoslavia.
North America: US (Hawaii only).
Central America and Caribbean: Costa Rica, Belize, Jamaica, Nicaragua and Panama.
South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
Asia: Jordan and Saudi Arabia
Africa: Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Congo, Cote D'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Niger, Reunion, Sao Tome & Principe, Seychelles, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Zaire and Zimbabwe.
Oceania: Australia.
