Unsatisfactory quarantine treatments against Anastrepha suspensa


Grapefruit, mango and carambola were artificially infested with third instars of Anastrepha suspensa and each fruit species was subjected to a different hot-water treatment of 43°C for 75 min, 46°C for 40 min and 46°C for 25 min, respectively.
In no case was a 100% mortality rate of third instars achieved by the hot-water treatment.
