Situation of Erwinia amylovora in Switzerland
Erwinia amylovora (EPPO A2 organism) has been found again in Switzerland in 1991 in the same geographical area as in the previous year. In the area of Lake Constance several fireblight infections on Cotoneaster were found. For the first time E. amylovora has been found in a commercial pear orchard. Diseased plants were uprooted and destroyed.
The rest of Switzerland as well as all surveyed nurseries were still free from the pathogen.
