Absence of Dryocosmus kuriphilus in Germany
In Germany, a monitoring survey for Dryocosmus kuriphilus (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae – EPPO A2 List) was carried out in accordance with Article 5 of the EU Decision 2006/464/EC. In forests, the area covered by Castanea sativa corresponds to approximately 5250 ha. In addition, isolated trees are grown in public green and private areas all over the country. C.;sativa is mainly grown in Southern Germany, such as Baden-Württemberg (around 3000 ha) and in Rheinland-Pfalz (around 2000 ha). Nurseries were also included in the monitoring survey. This survey was carried out by the plant protection services in cooperation with the forest management in the framework of the regular inspections for relevant forest pests. Characteristic symptoms of D. kuriphilus, i.e. galls, were not observed. Therefore, there was no need to take samples for further laboratory testing.
The pest status of Dryocosmus kuriphilus in Germany is officially declared as: Absent.
