Reproduction of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus under Finnish summer conditions

A study carried out in Finland investigated the reproductive capabilities of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus (EPPO A1 quarantine pest) under Finnish summer temperature conditions. B. xylophilus isolates from North America and B. mucronatus isolates from Finland were compared in this study concerning their reproductive success. Although B. xylophilus was less reproductive than B. mucronatus, it was, nevertheless, shown that the pine wood nematode is capable of reproducing under Finnish conditions.
