Symptom expression of potato cultivars caused by Meloidogyne chitwoodi

In The Netherlands, studies have been conducted to compare the symptom expression due to infections by Meloidogyne chitwoodi (potential EPPO A2 quarantine pest) of several potato cultivars. It was found that late cultivars, mostly starch potatoes, developed very severe symptoms caused by the nematode infection. Early cultivars were not so severely affected. The cultivars "Hansa" and "Bintje" were among those cultivars were the symptom expression was most severe.
