Behaviour of Anastrepha striata

In Costa Rica investigations on the behaviour of Anastrepha striata (EPPO A1 quarantine pest) collected from guava plantations were carried out. Oviposition occurred on five fruit species. Guava (Psidium guajava) and Psidium friedrichsthalianum were the most attractive to oviposition by the fruit fly (100%) while on mango and avocado no oviposition occurred. Adult activity was highest between 9:00 and 14:00 h when light intensity was high and decreased under cloudy and cold (18ø C) or too warm (28ø C) temperatures.
