Monitoring Bemisia tabaci with sticky traps
Comparisons of sticky traps of different colours for monitoring Bemisia tabaci (EPPO A2 quarantine pest) were carried out in India. Best results were obtained with rectangular yellow traps. Polyisobutane and castor oil were the best sticky substances tested and traps facing the sky either inside or adjacent to the field attracted the most whiteflies. The authors reported that trap catches were positively correlated with the number of eggs found in the fields.
