Bemisia tabaci in Uzbekistan
The two most important whiteflies in Uzbekistan are Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci (EPPO A2 quarantine pest). While T. vaporariorum is a greenhouse pest since the 1970s, B. tabaci appeared only in 1989 and attacked cucurbits, other vegetables and cotton in areas bordering Turkmenistan and in Kara-Kalpakia. Possibilities for B. tabaci to overwinter outdoors are estimated as low by the author.
