Mycosphaerella dearnessii (syn. Scirrhia acicola) found in the EU (France)
The French Plant Protection Service has informed EPPO that Mycosphaerella dearnessii (syn. Scirrhia acicola, EPPO A2 quarantine pest) has been found in France. Rapet and Chauvel (1994) reported that the disease has been observed in the South-West of France (Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées) infecting young plantations of Pinus species (mostly the hybrid Pinus attenuata x radiata, and to a lesser extent P. attenuata and P. radiata). French authorities have designed and are currently carrying out adequate eradication measures.
