Update on the occurrence of Erwinia amylovora from the Czech Republic


In the Czech Republic, Erwinia amylovora (EPPO A2 quarantine pest) isolates were collected from Bohemia and comparatively tested for serological and biochemical identity with strains from Germany, the UK, Switzerland and Greece. Additionally an antiserum was produced and tested againt 101 Bohemian isolates and 30 isolates from other European countries. All isolates from Bohemia and Europe reacted positively with the produced antiserum. There were no considerable differences between the Bohemian and European isolates studied according to the results of a numerical analysis.
