Attractants for Anastrepha obliqua
Several yeasts were tested as attractants for Anastrepha obliqua (EPPO A1 quarantine pest) in a mango orchard, in Venezuela. The following aqueous suspensions of yeasts: Cryptococcus luteolus, Piccha farinosa, C. luteolus + P. farinosa, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, S. calsbergensis and Torula yeast pellets were studied. All 6 suspensions were attractive to A. obliqua. The greatest numbers of captures were obtained in traps baited with Torula yeast pellets and a mixture of C. luteolus and P. farinosa.
