Update on the situation of Thrips palmi in the Netherlands
In the EPPO RS 96/193, it was reported that two infestations of Thrips palmi (EPPO A1 quarantine pest) had been found and eradicated in the Netherlands during the course of 1996. The EPPO Secretariat has recently been informed that a third outbreak of T. palmi has been found on Ficus benjamina during the regular inspections necessary for the issuance a plant passport. The plants were grown as consumer products. The eradication programme used in previous outbreaks has been applied and completed. The source of the infestation is under investigation.
