Possible presence of Ralstonia (Pseudomonas) solanacearum in the Turkish part of Cyprus.
The Plant Protection Service of Cyprus has informed the EPPO Secretariat that several reports appearing in Turkish Cypriot newspapers indicated that serious plant health problems are affecting potatoes and citrus in the northern part of the island. Concerning potato crops, symptoms described could well indicate that there has been an outbreak of Ralstonia (Pseudomonas) solanacearum (EPPO A2 quarantine pest) in this area. It must be recalled that in the southern part of the island, the bacterium is absent (EPPO RS 96/090).
