First recorded in: 1980s
Comments
First found in the Lower Rio Grande Valley (Texas) in the early 1980s. It has become the dominant stem boring insect pest of sugarcane. In 2008, it was detected in Western Louisiana rice-producing areas. In March 2012, it was found in Florida (Levy county). Considered as an invasive species in the USA.
