Irradiation effects on Liriomyza trifolii

The effect of gamma irradiation on Liriomyza trifolii (EPPO A2 list) was studied in Israel. Eggs and first instars of the parasite were irradiated. At doses of 40 or 50 Gy very few individuals reached the adult stage, their lifespan was very short and they did not breed. First instars treated with a dose of 25 Gy showed only small disturbances and recovered relatively fast for their normal life cycle.
